Our Mission & Our Work

We are a true grassroots, all-volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to the welfare of New York City's wildlife.

Our goal is to promote a caring and compassionate society where all wildlife is treated as sentient beings and where we create an environment that benefits humans and our wild neighbors alike.

Caring for NYC's wildlife for more than 10 years

The Urban Wildlife Alliance was born in the spring of 2013, when a small group of wildlife enthusiasts, rescuers, and licensed rehabilitators joined forces to help the wildlife of New York City more efficiently.

A year later, we became a fully-fledged 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to safeguard the welfare of wild animals in urban and suburban environments, based on the concept of compassionate conservation.

A Labor of Love

This work is not for the faint of heart! We are a growing network of volunteers and trained wildlife rehabbers with hearts for compassionate conservation. Will you join us?
